Lesson 10: Module D| Knee Pain

Lesson 10 | Module D
Module D discusses training around knee pain. We discuss common aggravating movements, such as squats, running, and weightlifting movements, and how to modify the variables of these exercises to allow for continued training throughout an injury. Lastly, we include two case studies of clients dealing with knee pain and how we modified their training in real-life situations.

Discussion Questions

  1. How do you determine which acute training variables are the most important for a specific patient/client

  2. Outline a training progression that you would use for a patient/client with anterior knee pain during squatting, who doesn’t have any notable changes in symptoms throughout the range of motion

  3. How would you modify the following workout for a Crossfit athlete who has 7/10 shoulder pain with overhead lifting (regardless of grip):

  1. 10 min AMRAP of:

    8 thrusters

8 chest to bar pull ups

    8 pistols per side

    200m run

    1. Name 3 accessory/”rehab” drills that you would add in for a powerlifter who was dealing with low back pain that is worse with deadlifting, squatting, and flexion-based activities, and detail why you made those choices
