Lesson 6: Module F |Clinical Summary
Lesson 6 | Module F
The last module in this section discusses the clinical summary and how to present clinical findings/plans of care. Emphasis is placed upon not making patients feel fragile, broken, and like they have a thousand things “wrong with them” by listing out every limitation/discrepancy that we see during the examination. We also discuss how to confidently present diagnoses/prognoses in the clinical setting, without an over-emphasis on pathoanatomical or kinesiophobic language/diagnostic labels.
Finally, we discuss how to present the plan of care that you think is best for that individual patient, and how to navigate the discussion of expected timelines with each patient.

Discussion Questions
What is your current assessment/evaluation process?
Do you place a greater importance on communicating with the patient during an assessment/evaluation, or on doing a detailed objective examination? Why?
How do you currently present evaluation findings to a patient? Does the way you do so encourage an internal locus of control, or encourage the patient to view you as a “fixer”?
What is the value in discussing uncertainty with diagnoses/prognoses?
What information are you looking to gather during your assessment/evaluation?
When coaching technique what are some of the big things you are looking for on each lift?
How do you approach the conversation of technique with someone who is overly worried about how they move?
